Although Josh has an exalted title does he actually do anything positive?

From several detailed rewatchings of the entire series it seems all he does is walk around with coffee shouting for Donna (who seems to do all the work) and make major mistakes in dealing with Congress and foreign delegations.

I wouldn't put him in charge of a whelk-stall let alone any aspect government policy be it in the USA or Upper Volta!

Having watched the series when it was originally shown on British TV, I have recently binge-watched all seven seasons again. It is still the second best American series (personally I think that 'The Wire' is the best) but the Josh/Donna story arc, which I originally thought mildly entertaining simply becomes annoying with the perspective of time.

Josh is an arrogant ass, whose many mistakes should have got him fired while Janel Moloney has two schticks: puzzled/sad and 'kooky'. Had I been Executive Producer I'd have sacked both Whitford and Moloney after season 3 and used the money to pay Rob Lowe more to stay.

That said the series still provides an education to us non-Americans and explains why the USA is a failed state as a result of its nonsensical constitution. Apparently Hamilton favoured a parliamentary system and what is clear is that the countries that follow that system have more effective governments than the US.

I just rewatched the final season. Leo dying was a rough episode.

Also, watching them spend so much time on the transition was disappointing.

Hello West Wing fanatics! My name is Samantha, and I am a senior in high school in Chicago, IL. For my class, AP Research, I am partaking in a year-long research project on The West Wing as a fan of the show myself. I am looking for volunteers to participate in a 20-30 minute interview, preferably in person (if you live in the Chicagoland area) or on Zoom, however I am willing to adjust to whatever method works best for you. I wondered if anyone has been able to pick up on what Josh says just after they pick up Leo's casket in the episode Requiem. He turns his head to the left slightly and you can clearly see that he says something ... I have tried to watch it over and over to lip-read what is said but cannot figure it out.

Does anyone have any ideas?

With the The West Wing about the White House, the President and his Staff. I would like to see a spin-off following re-elected Speaker of the House Jeff Haffley and his staff as they work in the Capitol building.

THE WEST WING... why is it someone born, bred, and a former governor of NH has never heard of leaf peeping and goes so far as to mock it? It is a staple and definition of Autumn in New England....totally ruined the show for me... I find it hard to get past.

Re the Presidential timeline-Owen Lassiter was Bartlett's predecessor, 1991-1999. Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan were both President in this universe. Newman followed Reagan after a special election that resulted in the West Wing's Presidential election schedule.

On Alternatehistory.com's West Wing timeline, Santos served one tern and was defeated by GlennAllen Walken, who served two terms from 2011-2019. He in turn was followed by none other than Sam Seaborn, who is now running for his 2nd term.
