The 1990 United States Presidential Election was held on Tuesday, November 6 of that year. The Republican nominee defeated the incumbent president, D. Wire Newman.

The winner of this election was inaugurated in 1991 and would serve for two terms, becoming the predecessor for Josiah Bartlet. Newman lost in a landslide defeat due to his handling of a fragile economy and an unstable Middle East.

Leo McGarry served in this president's administration as Secretary of Labor from 1991-1995.
