Charlayne was a journalist who reported on both the White House and the Santos campaign.
She read both the EPA report on the environmental damage caused by coal and the version censored by the White House, and she asked C.J. Cregg about it at the briefing.[1] She was with the gaggle when they were locked outside the White House during the shutdown and asked C.J. about the progress on the budget and President Bartlet's dinner with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.[2] She believed the Bartlets should recuse themselves regarding the proposed changes to federal adoption law if they were considering adoption themselves.[3]
She was a reporter in the "human wave" who confronted C.J. about Toby Ziegler's briefings.[4] She didn't believe Annabeth Schott when she pretended no one at the Bartlet White House had seen the Republican National Convention.[5]
She questioned Donna Moss about Arnold Vinick's lead in the polls and had a senior Democrat on record saying it was time to shake things up.[6] Donna intended to leak the story about the San Andreo nuclear plant to Charlayne, but she already had the story and Donna backed off so the Santos campaign could keep their hands clean.[7]
