Edward Keenitz was the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture during President Bartlet's first term. He served under Secretary Roger Tribbey. He would later run for Senator of Iowa (his home state) and would win against Republican incumbent Niering the same night President Bartlet won re-election. Four years later he was named as President-Elect Matthew Santos' choice for Secretary of Agriculture, he would be confirmed as Secretary of Agriculture soon after.
