Hubert Horatio Humphrey Jr. (May 27, 1911 – January 13, 1978) was an American politician and statesman who served as the 38th vice president of the United States from 1965 to 1969 under President Lyndon B. Johnson. He was the Democratic nominee in the 1968 presidential election, which he lost to Richard Nixon.
He was the personal hero of Howard Stackhouse, also a Liberal Democrat senator from Minnesota. He once shook President Bartlet's hand.[1]
