James Earl Carter Jr. served as the 39th President of the United States from 1975-1979. Jimmy Carter was Born in 1924.

Jimmy Carter was Elected to the Georgia State Senate in 1962 to Represent the nowly created 14th District, Taking Office in January 1963. Carter was Re-Elected to the Senate in 1964. In 1966 Carter retired from the Senate in order to run for Governor of Georgia, But Came in a Distant Third in the Demcoratic Primary against Former Governor Ellis Arnall, and Segregationist Business Man Lester Maddox. Maddox would go on to win the Election. Carter Left off as a State Senator in January 1967. In 1970 Carter Luanched a second Campaign for Governor and Won the Nomination and later the Election. Carter was sworn in as Governor in January 1971. In 1974 Carter was Term Limited from running for a Second Term as Governor and Ran for the Democratic Presidential Nomination. He Won the Nomination and Choose Minnesota Senator Walter Mondale as his Running Mate. In November the Carter/Mondale Ticket defeated the Incumbent Gerald Ford. Carter Left office as Governor and was Sworn in as President Six Days Later in 1975. In 1978 Carter Lost Re-Election to Ronald Reagan. He Left offce in January 1979.
