Jonathan Bartlet is a farmer and brother to former President Josiah Bartlet. He is never seen onscreen, nor is his voice heard.

Character[]

When he was a child he locked his brother in a steamer trunk with various seafood.[1]

Around 1991, Jon was told about his brother's multiple sclerosis, and would be one of sixteen people to keep it a secret from the public.[2]

Jon was referred to jokingly by his brother for his actions of planting different crops side by side, which according to the Bible, is a stonable offense.[3]

By 2001, Jon was in charge of the Bartlet Presidential Library Commission to create the Josiah Bartlet Presidential Library. That year, he had a meeting with Neda Wallin, counsel for the commission, and discovered that their first choice for a site violated the Historic Barn and Bridges Preservation Act. He then sent a fax to his brother for a go ahead on their second choice.[4]
