Peter Santos is the son of Matt and Helen Santos. He has a sister, Miranda. He is a young child during his father's campaign for the Democratic nomination. He is present during the Iowa Primary campaign[1] and the Democratic National Convention.[2]

Peter and Miranda are both sick when their father makes a visit home during his presidential campaign, which their mother blames on the campaign schedule. The family attends mass together, which is delayed an hour by the Secret Service who confiscate a gun owned by a boy named Teddy's dad. Matt promised to play football with Peter while he was there.[3]

On Halloween, Peter and Miranda go trick-or-treating with Jon Bon Jovi. He was dressed as Harry Potter.[4]

Once his father is elected president, Peter moves to Washington D.C. with his family. The White House decorator designs him a cowboy-themed bedroom in the Residence. His mother initially hoped the children would be able to finish out the school year in Houston, but that was a problem for the Secret Service. Instead Peter's parents found him and Miranda a public school in the city to attend.[5]

Notes[]

  • Peter's age is unclear. Without specifying which, his mother describes one of her children as "five years old," and later references the fact that one of her children is in "fifth grade,"[5] making the child approximately ten or eleven.
