Suzanne Hoynes was the second[1] wife of Vice President John Hoynes and the Second Lady of the United States.
Her husband's affair with Washington, D.C. socialite Helen Baldwin was exposed following the publication of her memoirs, which mentioned classified information Hoynes had told her to impress her. Hoynes told Suzanne about the affair, and he chose to resign in part to spare Suzanne further attention from the press.[2]
Suzanne stayed with Hoynes and was in the studio for his interview with Diane Mathers. She told Hoynes that Mathers had served up softballs, but though it would get tougher, she reassured him that she was here. Hoynes told Josh Lyman he wanted to save his marriage while trying to convince him to join his campaign for president.[1]
